Arch are holding a Recruitment Open Day next month for members of the public to drop in and find out more about working for the charity.

As well as hearing about our current job and volunteering roles, staff from across the organisation will be on hand to talk about their roles and answer any questions you might have.

The open day is happening on Wednesday 27 February 2019 from 2pm – 8pm at Arch’s head office based at 308 London Road, Stoke.

Arch helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, victims of domestic abuse, people suffering from poor mental wellbeing and anyone struggling to maintain their independence or their tenancy.

Jez Chalmers works for in our refugee resettlement support service, working alongside other agencies to help anyone going through the asylum seeking process. About his role, Jez said: “I love my job, I really enjoy it. It can be physically and mentally demanding at times, but then there are moments when you have success and you know that because of your hard work, certain individuals get a break though.

“I go home every night and know that the work I’ve done has made a huge difference to lots of people’s lives in a really significant way.

“If you’re the sort of person who gets a buzz out of being there and helping others, then Arch are an incredible charity to work for.”

Sean Phoenix is a support practitioner for Arch’s supported housing, helping people keep their tenancies, teaching them life skills and working with other agencies to make sure they have the support they need.

Sean said: “I enjoy my job because every day if different. Some days, it could be a day of paperwork and other days you’ve not only got your own customers to see, but you’re helping someone else on the team with theirs. Now and again we’ll get a day where we’re running around trying to solve something.

“I see my role as a bit of a life coach and it’s kind of like being a dad to lots of people and giving advice. The nicest part of the job is when the customers move on and they “Without your help, I wouldn’t be where I am.” You just think to yourself, yeah, I supported them to achieve that.

“For me it’s like a kind of calling, you are showing people who have had such a negative impact in their lives that there are nice people out there.”
