Volunteer Role:  Support Assistant

Department: Community Learning

Responsible to: Transition Advisors

Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week x 3 posts

Main purpose of voluntary role:

To support the role of the Transition Advisors in the preparation, planning and delivery of their work i.e. group work sessions. You will also provide additional support to Arch customers. 

Tasks Description:

  1. Provide additional support to Arch customers in a group work setting such as life skills, sporting and outdoor activities. 
  2. Assist Arch staff in the preparation of their work i.e. shopping, setting up the Community Learning Resource Centre.
  3. Provide support with basic literacy and numeracy, and support customers to  build their portfolios. 
  4. Any other tasks that are deemed appropriate.

Volunteers are reminded to:

1. Adhere to the principles of confidentiality, for example do not discuss your customers details out in the public domain including your home environment.

Conditions of Role:

The agreement between Arch and the volunteer is not intended to be a legally binding contract between the parties and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party.  Neither of us intends any employment relationship to be created either now or in the future.

Prospective volunteer for Arch will receive relevant training pertaining to their area of work, followed by an induction period of one full day.

Your main base of work will be in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, and/or at local satellite sites.  There may also be occasions where visits to relevant agencies or events are necessary.

Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle that I insured for business purposes
