Relationships Without Fear
Breaking the cycle of domestic abuse
Relationships Without Fear is a project that is run in schools throughout Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.
It is a preventative strategy, designed to address the taboo subject of Domestic Abuse with children from Year 4 Primary to Year 11 Secondary.
In the Stoke area there is a support worker who can work with children on a one-to-one basis. All staff are fully trained in child protection and disclosure.
The programme:
- Reinforces the principles of healthy and safe relationships as young people grow and develop.
- Challenges the issues of domestic abuse, exploring the way that people enter abusive relationships and become trapped.
- Helps young people to recognise warning signs and empower them to know that even if this is behaviour they have witnessed within their own family, it is not right or acceptable.
- Offers support for children suffering from the affects of domestic abuse.
