DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is not only about physical abuse but also about emotional, sexual and financial abuse (in varying combinations) in any intimate relationship.


Our aim is to

  • Make a difference to the lives of individuals and their families by offering
    a confidential telephone support service.
  • Information is available about legal, housing, money and children’s issues.

Helpline calls

  • Helpline calls are taken by a team of trained volunteers who are supervised by the Domestic Violence Services Manager.
  • We believe that you know what is best for you and will support you in any decision you make.

The person taking your call will:

  • Listen to you

  • Believe you

  • Reassure you that you are not alone, not going mad and that it is not your fault

  • Explore with you ways of helping you to cope with the situation

If you ask them they will:

  • Give you information to enable you to make your own choices and decisions
  • Refer you to other services, which may include local support groups & Counselling services
