Jack's Story...
Jack had witnessed domestic violence for several years, and was being home schooled. One-to-one support established that Jack was suffering significantly from his experience of domestic violence. It was affecting his social and emotional development, and he had difficulty understanding feelings and behaviours surrounding relationships.
After three meetings, Jack disclosed that he had suffered physical abuse himself. Official procedures were followed and Social Care contacted. To improve his safety, the perpetrator was asked to leave the family home. Jack's mother was referred to the Outreach team for one-to-one support, and we worked with education agencies to get Jack back into school.
