Wolstanton Rotary charity donations
ROTARY CLUB OF WOLSTANTON
Two local charities were the recipients of cheques donated by The Rotary Club of Wolstanton at the first meeting of the club in the new Rotary Year.
Incoming President, Chris Beardmore, presided over the event at which a cheque for £2500 was given to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and one for £1200 was given to Arch North Staffs
These donations were made possible from two fund raising events organised by the club. The first was a Sportsman's Evening, held at the Britannia Stadium, during which 200 people were entertained by Dean Saunders, the Welsh international footballer. The second was from the club's Annual Golf Day held at Newcastle Golf Club in June.
To receive the cheques were Liz Quick and Trish Powell from the DMH, who thanked Wolstanton Rotary for their continued support to the hospice, and Ray Elks from Arch, who explained that the funds would be used in helping children, affected by domestic violence, at their Elizabeth House facility.
Club President, Chris, commented "we are delighted to help these two very worthy local organisations, and sincerely thank the many people who support our fund raising activities".
