Charity Golf Day 09
FINANCIAL ADVISERS RAISE £3000 FOR HOMELESS AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUFFERERS
A charity golf day and auction to help people at risk of homelessness or domestic violence has raised more than £3000.
The event was organised by Newcastle-under-Lyme independent financial advisers ASC Financial Management to raise money for Arch North Staffordshire.
Over 50 golfers from local businesses took part at the Izaak Walton Golf Club near Stone, and afterwards stayed on for a meal and to bid for items like a golfing holiday in Spain.
The 5th June event, which was organised partly to celebrate ASC's 10th birthday, raised £3168. ASC and Arch are hoping this will now become an annual event.
Arch's Corporate and Community Fundraiser Ray Elks said: "We appreciate the help from the local business community and in particular ASC for organising this.
"The cash will be spent helping to re-house people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or those exposed to domestic violence.
"Last year we helped and supported over 3000 families and individuals at risk in North Staffordshire."
ASC Financial Management director Tony Castrey said: "It was a great day and although we spent the majority of my time hacking away in the bushes we're hoping this will become an annual event."
Fellow director Gary Hanmer added: "We need as much help as we can get to reduce our handicaps, and hopefully Arch can benefit as well as they are a very worthy cause."
